The original Basic Instinct film that came out in 1992 was said to be a very controversial film of its time since there was so much sex, nudity, adult themes and killing. There is one scene which was very famous where Sharron Stone sat in a police interview room with no panties on and gave all the cops a good long look at her bits. This was one of the several famous scenes but without a doubt was the mot popular scene in the movie, especially for the guys watching. This scene can be watched from the video page of this website using the link at the top of this page.
Another famous scene is the first sex scene act where you don’t actually see who the killer is but you are made to think that it is Sharron Stone. She takes an ice pick and kills her lover who is tied to a bed and has no way of stopping the forceful attack. Towards the end of the movie when the character played by Michael Douglas gets together with the character played by Sharron Stone and right at the end of the movie as she ties him to the bed, then the camera goes down under the bed where you see the ice pick again however that is the end of the movie so you really never know if she kills him or not. A great thriller ending and a perfect film to watch for many reason other than the famous scene.

Because of an enormous following many people have impromptu games of trivia about the movie. To make sure that you can stump your friends and know all the answers to their questions you need to do your research. Here are six facts that could help you know the movie better.
Number One: Sharon Stone admitted to being annoyed about all of the questions of how she felt about all the nudity that was required for the movie. In fact, the nudity bothered her less than the fact that her character killed someone on screen and a paramedic was on scene because she kept passing out and she had nightmares about it.
Number Two: Michael Douglas did most of his own driving for the stunts as he used to be a race car driver.
Number Three: Gay rights activists were upset to the point of trying to sabotage ticket sales because they felt that gays and lesbians were being portrayed as evil killers.
Number Four: Throughout the sex scenes, Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone had to wear genital pads to protect themselves from disease because of the AIDS scare that swept through the United States in the late 80′s and early 90′s.
Number Five: Sharon Stone says that she never consented to the filming of her in the infamous leg un-crossing scene. Director Verhoeven says that she not only knew but was excited about it as it added to the characters persona.
Number Six: During the nudity scenes there were never any body doubles used.
Bonus: Despite not fulfilling his goal of being able to show an erect penis (even after fourteen cuts), Paul Verhoeven was able to get a flaccid penis on screen with a “dead” body.

Basic Instinct 2 is subtitled “Risk Addiction” and is the 2006 sequel to the first Basic Instinct. It is directed by Michael Caton-Jones. It is a story that follows a suspected serial killer and novelist Catherine Tramell who once again finds trouble with the police. She is evaluated by a psychiatrist after a man dies. During this time, the psychologist becomes entangled in Tramell’s seductive games. The psychiatrist, Dr. Glass, is ordered by the court to perform the exam and provide testimony in the case and believes that Tramell is not only a sociopath but incapable of distinguishing right from wrong. It is during this time and amidst these games that Dr. Glass’s life begins to spiral out of control. Later, Tramell attempts to kill Tramell. The plot of the film continues in non-stop action and drama and it turns out that Tramell writes novels about the events. Eventually, she manipulates the psychiatrist into committing murders of his own and he ends up silent in a mental institution while Tramell
reveals it all and leaves with an eerily wicked expression.
The film had been greatly anticipated. It had undergone several edits and cuts and finally released with an R rating due to the sexual scenes, nudity, language and drugs. With the great anticipation, the film was not received well, many critics felt that it did not live up to its high expectations and the first Basic Instinct was considered much more entertaining.

A great many of the younger generation don’t know the plot for his American Erotic thriller movie. Basic Instinct was released in 1992 and instantly caused a stir. It was found to be shocking by some and a portrait of our society slipping into deeper dark place. The plot for the story is as follows. A wealthy former rock star is brutally stabbed to death. The weapon used was an ice pick and he was stabbed during a sexual encounter. Detective Nick Curran, played by Michael Douglas is brought in to investigate this murder. Nick and his partner Gus Moran visit with a crime novelist who was last seen with the rock star on the night he died. Instead of finding the novelist they find her lesbian lover Roxy. Roxy sends them to the novelists’ beach house, where she shows little remorse for the rock star.
The police duo discovers that the novelist has written about this exact same crime in one of her novels. Her story had the details of the crime including how the rock star had been tied to the bed with a white scarf and then stabbed to death with an ice pick. At this point the police investigators take the novelist in for questioning. During these famous scenes we discover that the novelist, played by Sharon Stone, is not wearing underwear and she uses this and her cigarette to act in very provocative behaviors.
Nick the policeman is undergoing counseling, with a female police psychologist, that he has had an affair with. Nick hooks up with the psychologist after a tuff day at work and engages with her in rough sex. It is discovered that the novelists’ counselor at college was also murdered with an ice pick. Nick also learns that the novelist often makes friends with murderers. The novelist taunts Detective Nick with information that only his police psychologist should know. The police psychologist admits to handing on Nick’s personal file to an internal investigator. Nick confronts the internal investigator and assaults him. Nick is then suspended. The psychologist attempts to see Nick at his home that evening but by then he has been drinking heavily and he throws her out after an argument. The investigator is found dead in his car from a single gunshot to the head and Nick becomes the prime suspect.
The novelist and Nick begin a torrid affair. She states that her next book will be based on a cop falling for the wrong woman, and he is killed by this woman. Nick declares his love for her and that he is going to prove that she killed the rock star. Roxy is jealous and tries to run Nick over with the novelists’ car, he chases her and she dies in the crash. After Roxy’s death it is revealed that she had a murderous past. The novelist is shocked by the death of her lover. Nick doubts the novelist is guilty based on her reaction, he discovers that she had had a previous lesbian encounter while at college. The other woman is the police psychologist, she admits to the relationship. The dead internal investigator had investigated connections between the novelist, the police psychologist and her now dead husband. From here you really need to start watching! I won’t be the one to spoil it for you, but be aware of twists. And really how many main players haven’t been killed at this point?

Of all the movies that came out of the 1990s the Basic Instinct movie was one that most guys watched at least a few times mainly because you got to see Sharron Stone naked in the picture. Even though in an interview later she said that she had to remove her panties because the white glare was affecting the camera she still got move fame in those few frames of movie because she was the first non adult movie that showed a girl with her legs open. After this the movies started to roll out with nudity and sex scenes hoping that the film critics would rate their like they did for Basic Instinct however they were never that lenient after this movie so guys had to get their naked celebrity movies from the M16+ or over categories.
With a star cast of Michael Douglas and Sharron Stone there is no wonder that this movie was so popular even putting the nudity aside. If you look closely you can also see some other stars that are more famous for being on sitcoms and TV series rather than big time movie stars. Most people would say that this movie gets an A for effort and B for story line but this is not the average score. For rating people will normally give Basic Instinct a 4 out of 5 because there was more to it than just seeing Sharron with her gear off. The story line was scary and plausible and this thriller of a story keeps you on the edge of your seats the entire way through.

Michael Douglas was thrown higher into the Hollywood heights after his perfect performance next to Sharron Stone in the 1992 classic and original Basic Instinct. Not only was he a great actor before he got into this role but the fame and fortune that followed basic instinct rocketed him to further stardom. He has been a brilliant actor all his career but standing up to the killer who he knew was Sharron’s character was one tough part in the movie to play.
He plays a wound up cop who gets into trouble more often than not who takes Sharron Stone into the interview room to question her. She is cheeky enough when she lights up a cigarette in the no smoking section of the police station and stating that they would not arrest her for smoking here. Then she flashes her privates to the whole room very slyly so that all the cops forget what they were talking to her about and she walks out free after killing her former lover. Douglas is so turned on that he basically rapes his ex-wife right in her office and then casually strolls out as if nothing had happened.
He scored the girl at the end of the movie which is what all the heroes should do in a good story. After everything that has happened he keeps on seeing the killer until eventually; who knows, he probably ends up getting stabbed too.
