Because of an enormous following many people have impromptu games of trivia about the movie. To make sure that you can stump your friends and know all the answers to their questions you need to do your research. Here are six facts that could help you know the movie better.

Number One: Sharon Stone admitted to being annoyed about all of the questions of how she felt about all the nudity that was required for the movie. In fact, the nudity bothered her less than the fact that her character killed someone on screen and a paramedic was on scene because she kept passing out and she had nightmares about it.

Number Two: Michael Douglas did most of his own driving for the stunts as he used to be a race car driver.

Number Three: Gay rights activists were upset to the point of trying to sabotage ticket sales because they felt that gays and lesbians were being portrayed as evil killers.

Number Four: Throughout the sex scenes, Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone had to wear genital pads to protect themselves from disease because of the AIDS scare that swept through the United States in the late 80′s and early 90′s.

Number Five: Sharon Stone says that she never consented to the filming of her in the infamous leg un-crossing scene. Director Verhoeven says that she not only knew but was excited about it as it added to the characters persona.

Number Six: During the nudity scenes there were never any body doubles used.

Bonus: Despite not fulfilling his goal of being able to show an erect penis (even after fourteen cuts), Paul Verhoeven was able to get a flaccid penis on screen with a “dead” body.
