Michael Douglas was thrown higher into the Hollywood heights after his perfect performance next to Sharron Stone in the 1992 classic and original Basic Instinct. Not only was he a great actor before he got into this role but the fame and fortune that followed basic instinct rocketed him to further stardom. He has been a brilliant actor all his career but standing up to the killer who he knew was Sharron’s character was one tough part in the movie to play.

He plays a wound up cop who gets into trouble more often than not who takes Sharron Stone into the interview room to question her. She is cheeky enough when she lights up a cigarette in the no smoking section of the police station and stating that they would not arrest her for smoking here. Then she flashes her privates to the whole room very slyly so that all the cops forget what they were talking to her about and she walks out free after killing her former lover. Douglas is so turned on that he basically rapes his ex-wife right in her office and then casually strolls out as if nothing had happened.

He scored the girl at the end of the movie which is what all the heroes should do in a good story. After everything that has happened he keeps on seeing the killer until eventually; who knows, he probably ends up getting stabbed too.
